Wheelbase: 102 While the introduction of the Thunderbird was Ford’s answer to the Corvette, the two cars were actually quite different. Corvette was designed to be America’s sports car, while the Thunderbird chose to forge a new path as a personal luxury automobile. With more power and a better engineered ride, the Thunderbird appeared more sophisticated. Today the 1957 F-Bird is by far the most sought after Thunderbird by marque enthusiasts. 1957 marked the last year before the Thunderbird was totally redesigned and made into a sluggish four-passenger luxury convertible.
